Mariveni United the new Wafa-Wafa soccer champs

MARIVENI United won the Wafa-Wafa soccer tournament at Nkowankowa Stadium on Sunday.

United, popularly known as Amandos beat Emmanuel Iron Breakers 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 stalemate at the end of the game time.

United took home R5 000, a large trophy and gold medals for each player.

To book a place in the finals, United beat Julesburg Killers 5-2, while Emmanuel Iron Breakers beat Nkowankowa Barcelona 2-1.

Nkowankowa Barcelona narrowly defeated Julesburg killers 4-3 in the losers’ play- off game, ending in third place.

Edwin “Sam Pam” Berreta from Mariveni United won the tournament’s leading goal scorer and player of the tournament awards.
