THE fifth annual Tlou Segolela tournament will kick off at the Black Rovers FC sports grounds in Moletjie, Mabokelele on December 24.

THE fifth annual Tlou Segolela tournament will kick off at the Black Rovers FC sports grounds in Moletjie, Mabokelele on December 24.

Teams are encouraged to affiliate with the tournament as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The Tlou Segolela tournament will be played by 32 soccer teams and 12 netball teams. Soccer teams have to pay affiliation fees of R1 650, while the netball teams have to pay affiliation fees of R500.

Segolela, an Orlando Pirates midfielder, started the tournament four years ago with the intention of giving back to the community.

The prize money for the soccer tournament is R80 000, while the winners of the netball tournament will walk away with for R12 000.

The u/15 soccer tournament will be played from December 20 to 21 and the two winners of this tournament will have the opportunity to play an opening match before the Tlou Segolela finals. The u/15 teams have to pay affiliation fees of R50 per team and there are great prizes up for grabs.

According to tournament coordinator, Mpho Moloto, the winner of the soccer tournament have to donate R15 000 to any charity of their choice.

“We will also crown the first Miss TSSD this year and the crowning will take place at Miami Lodge on December 16,” says Moloto.

The pageant is open to women aged between 18 and 24 and those who are interested in this pageant can send e-mails with their photographs and personal details to tssd2323@gmail.com.

The pageant entry costs R100 per contestant.

Last year’s tournament saw professional soccer players such as Orlando Pirates player, Happy Jele, attend the event, much to the delight of local soccer fans.
