Students of the Limpopo Province Sport Kickboxing and Karate Academy won 33 trophies at the South African All Styles Kickboxing Championships.

POLOKWANE – Students of the Limpopo Province Sport Kickboxing and Karate Academy won 33 trophies at the South African All Styles Kickboxing Championships.

The championships took place at the Portuguese Hall in Johannesburg last weekend, where the team from Polokwane won an astounding 17 gold, 12 silver and four bronze medals.

“Extra classes, longer hours and more individual attention helped us reap the rewards,” said sensei Nico Myburgh.

The 16 students competed over two days against clubs from all over South Africa in various styles.

The junior, senior and veteran students performed well in all their categories, including point fighting, continuous fighting and open hand form katas.

Danny Janse van Vuuren, Pieter Viljoen, Tasha Mostert, Maryna Peyper and Michael Swanepoel won gold and silver medals in the open mixed tag team event.
