POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Athletic Club will host the annual Nite Race on Friday, November 14, where athletes can compete in the 10km race or a 5km fun run.

This is the first year that GWM Motors from the BB Motor Group sponsors the popular event, which will see the issuing of newly designed medals to the first 300 finishers in each of the races.

Both races will start at 18:30.

The race is run annually by approximately 600 runners and will be run over a safe well-lit circular route with the start and finish of the event at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Dorp Street.

Water and Coke will be available at water points every 3km along the routes. Prize money to a value of R 5 000 is up for grabs to category winners in the 10km road race.

Entries for the races can be done at the race venue on the date of the race from 17:00 until 18:20.

The entry fee for the fun run is R20, while the 10km race costs R40. It is important for participants in the 10km race to be in possession of a provincial road race licence. Temporary licences will however be sold at the venue before the start of the race at R25.

For more information on the race, contact Johan van Vuuren at 083 277 2505 or Jaco Pretorius at 072 932 8488.

More detailed race information will be available at the Polokwane Athletic Club clubhouse at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on November 12.
