Limpopo Impala loses to North West on home turf
The Limpopo Impala cricket team suffered a crushing defeat against the visiting team from North West in their first Rural League fixture for the season last Saturday.
POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Impala cricket team suffered a crushing defeat against the visiting team from North West in their first Rural League fixture for the season last Saturday.
The 50-over match that took place at the Polokwane Cricket Club belonged to North West, who won the fixture with 151 runs.
North West elected to bat first and scored 347 runs in 50 overs, with T. Phukuile scoring 128 runs off 122 and D. Fielding scoring 143 runs off 121 balls.
The Impalas managed to take six wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
After lunch, the Impalas went to the crease, but could not chase down the 347 run total and were all out for 198 runs.
Hector Ngobeni scored 51 runs, not out, Don Radebe scored 33 runs, Theo Janse van Rensburg scored 32 runs and Christopher Atherstone scored 30 runs.
The Impalas’ next fixture in the Rural League will be against Mpumalanga at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park on Saturday.
