Naughty Boys top the KLG league

THE Manamela Naughty Boys were crowned the champions of the inaugural premier division of the Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) soccer league following a scoreless draw against Leswika Classic in the final at Swika la Motheo ground last Sunday.

Going into the title-deciding clash, Manamela Naughty Boys needed only a draw to snatch the title, while the stellar outfit of Leswika Classic needed victory at all cost if they were to be crowned the champions.

Right from kick-off, the Leswika Classic players tormented the entire line-up of Manamela Naughty Boys much to the delight of the passionate spectators.

The attacking force of Classic, led by the likes of Tsiye Sekgobela, Luwy Mngomezulu, Eliya Rakgoale, and Lekeke Mangena launched attack after attack, only to be thwarted by the unbelievable defensive instincts of the likes of Naughty Boys goalkeeper, Papadee Rakgoale as well as teammates Rocky Malesa, Sathane Phakula and Mokholo Makomela.

Thousands of fanatical followers of the two top teams came to watch this game and the consistent rain could not deter the football-loving masses from attending the historical encounter.

The Swika la Motheo sports facility started swarming with people as early as 12:00 when the u/15 sides of Ramalema Golden Birds locked horns with their MM Super Stars counterparts.

The Ramalema lads won the friendly encounter 1-0.

This was followed by another league match involving Ramalema Cosmos and Golden Aces that was won by Cosmos with a score of 3-1.

The chairperson of KLG Sport, Marupine Sape, said he was happy that the tournament was a huge success.

“I am proud of what we have done so far as KLG and truly believe that this bodes well for the future of our league,” he said.

For their efforts, Manamela Naughty Boys received R10 000 in prize money, a big trophy and gold medals.

They will receive this bounty at the prize giving ceremony on December 26.
