IN just one a week, the fifth Tlou Segolela festive soccer and netball tournament will kick-off and teams have been preparing rigorously over the past few weeks.
The tournament that starts on Wednesday December 24 and ends on Wednesday December 31 will take place at the Black Rover FC sports grounds in Mabokelele, Moletjie.
It will see 32 soccer teams and 12 netball teams battle it out to win trophies, medals and cash prizes.
This annual tournament is held under the auspices of Tlou Segolela Sports Development (TSSD).
Orlando Pirates FC midfielder Tlou “Gautrain” Segolela started the tournament four years ago, with the intention of giving back to his community, and the event has grown bigger each year.
Soccer teams paid R1 650 while netball teams paid R500 to be part of the tournament.
The prize money for the soccer tournament is R80 000 and netball teams will be competing for R12 000.
According to the tournament coordinator, Mpho Moloto, the winner of the soccer tournament has to donate R15 000 to the charity organisation of their choice.
The u/15 soccer tournament will be played from Saturday December 20 to Sunday December 21.
Entrance to the u/15 soccer tournament costs R50 and big prizes are up for grabs.
Fans can expect to mingle with talent scouts and top players.
