POLOKWANE – Local wheelchair tennis player, Kgothatso Montjane, is back from Australia, having competed in four tournaments.
Montjane won the women’s singles title with an outstanding performance at the Queensland Open, which took place from January 7 to 10. She later went on to pair with doubles partner, Lucy Shuker at the Queensland Open doubles to win their decisive round robin contest against Charlotte Famin and Katharina Kruger 6-3 6-1.
At the International Wheelchair Tennis Super Series, Montjane continued her impressive performance and reached the quarterfinals in both the single and doubles tournament.
At the Melbourne Open that took place from January 22 to 25, Montjane and doubles partner Lucy Shuker, yet again impressed with another outstanding victory, winning the doubles tournament against Marjolein Buis and Sabine Ellerbrock, 6-4 7-6.
At the Melbourne Open single tournament, Montjane made it past the quarters reaching the semi-finals, but fell out against Aniek van Koot. She ended each tournament by making it to the quarterfinals, and signs show that her hard work is paying off as she already began this year with an outstanding performance.fl
