New club advances at fencing tourney

POLOKWANE – Willie Botha, International Olympics Commitee epée coach and South African Fencing Association epée referee, opened the Raven Mitchell House Fencing Club at Mitchell House on October 20 last year.

The club competed in their first provincial placing competition in Mokopane on Saturday.

Four fencing clubs competed in the Limpopo Fencing Association tournament. They were Raven Mitchell House Fencing Club, Firebirds Fencing Club, EreSabel Fencing Club and the Musina Fencing Club.

Raven Mitchell House results:

Junior epée:

• KK Mametja – 19th overall in Limpopo.

• Cian Goeminne – 13th overall in Limpopo. He won two of his five pool fights.

• Kevin Raphalalani – ninth overall in Limpopo. He won three of his four pool fights.

Junior foil:

• Cian Goeminne – seventh overall in Limpopo. He won three of his five pool fights.

• KK Mametja – 16th overall in Limpopo. She won one of her four pool fights.

• Kevin Raphalalani – 12th overall in Limpopo. He won two of his four pool fights.

Senior epée:

• Willie Botha – seventh overall in Limpopo. He won three of his six fights.

• Johan de Klerk – eighth overall in Limpopo overall. He won three of his six pool fights.

• Dikabelo Ramashala – 12th overall in Limpopo. He won two of his six pool fights.

• Sechaba Madisha – 11th overall in Limpopo. he won two of his six pool fights.

Senior foil:

• Johan de Klerk – seventh overall in Limpopo. He won two of his five pool fights.

• Dikabelo Ramashala – fifth overall in Limpopo. He won two of his four pool fights.
