BAROKA FC took the second round of the National First Division league by storm last season, almost securing promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
Coach, Sello Chokoe, said he believed that his team has done enough during the league recess to ensure that they would collect enough points to see them through to the promotion play-offs.
Chokoe confirmed that Baroka FC had signed four players whose names were not made public by the time of going to print.
He did, however, reveal that two of the new players were signed from clubs that plied their trade in the SAB Castle League, while the other two were recruited from the ABC Motsepe League clubs.
“We are also going to release four players. Two of these releases are not confirmed yet, but Tshepo Mothiba has been released to join amateur club, Polokwane City Royals, while Seun Dlamini has been given clearance to join a team of his choice,” said Chokoe.
Asked if he had done enough to reverse the team’s blushes of the first round, Chokoe said the Baroka FC players had a habit of coming out strong from league recesses.
“Last season, we collected the majority of our points in the second round of the league season and we hope to be in top form when the league resumes on Wednesday,” he said.
Baroka FC will start their second round campaign with a trip to Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay for a date with Thanda Royal Zulu on Wednesday before returning home to face Cape Town All Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
