This award was issued to Eksteen by the founder and world president of the World International Martial Arts Association and Organisation, Nigel McClure of Dublin, Ireland.

According to Eksteen, this was the first time ever an individual martial artist from the African continent had won this prestigious international award.

Eksteen was up against martial artist directors and representatives from countries such as the Republic of Ireland, Italy, Egypt, Brazil, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Napoli, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Chile. Eksteen is also the official South African president for The World International Martial Arts Association and Organisation.

He has been president since 2010.

“The award was for the 39 years of untiring devotion and excellence given above self and for ongoing perseverance throughout the years, dedication towards the World International Martial Arts Association and Organisation in such a short time frame as well as other major karate and MMA organisations all over the globe,” Eksteen said.
