LIMPOPO – JOMO Cosmos FC head coach, Jomo Sono says an early goal by Black Leopards striker, Leonard Ntshangase dismantled his team’s morale.

Sono spoke shortly after Ezinkosi lost 2-0 against the rampaging Leopards in their promotion/relegation play-off at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.

Lidoda Duvha registered their first goal of the match in the 15th minute when Mumuni Abubaker played a good pass to Ntshangase and he put the ball behind the nets, leaving goalkeeper, Sherwin Naicker down.

The home side doubled their lead in the 55th minute when their left winger, Lebogang Mabotja picked out Ivan Mahangwahaya and he hit the nets with a rocket.

Ezinkosi nearly pulled a goal back in the 77th minute when Brice Arka curled the ball, but it hit the pole and goalkeeper, Avhashoni Tshinuna saved it.

“My boys played well. Until they got a goal, we were in control. They took their chances well and got a goal. I told them to make sure we didn’t get an early goal, because the first 10 minutes we were playing with the fans, but they were punished in the 15th minute,” said Sono.

“We are still on track and it is not yet over. We didn’t take our chances. Don’t rule us out of this race, we are still on track. Three of our top players will be playing in the next game.

“Make no mistake, we are a good team and I believe in my boys,” he said.

Leopards coach, Zeca Marques, praised the team for showing character as Cosmos had pressured them in the second half.

He said the players should keep their momentum and he believed they could win their coming games.
