Madiba Park FC beat Extension 71-A division 4-3 after an exciting, nailbiting penalty shoot-out that had spectators on the edge of their seats.
Although both teams started the match on a positive note, Extension 71 FC dominated the match from the first blow of the whistle and more chances were created, but failed to be used.
Things changed when Thenko Rathokolo of Madiba Park equalised from a penalty spot in the 74th minute.
Madiba Park knocked out Greenside FC with a score of 4-3 after the penalty shoot-out to reach the finals, while Extension 71 A-division beat Extension 71 B-division 1-0.
Capt Maimela Pilusa of the Westenburg police station, said the tournament aimed to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community.
“As the police, we are trying to build a good relationship with communities to work together to fight crime.
“This will also help to take young people off the streets. With sport, we can build a good relationship with our people,” Pilusa said.
“We plead with communities to report all crimes to their nearest police station on time.”
The Westenburg police tournament coordinator, Flora Nkuna, said they were very happy with the attendance and appreciated the support.
“We still have many tournaments to come, which will take place in different communities and we urge all youth football clubs to participate in this tournament.”
