Golfers compete on the greens

Some 81 golfers competed in the Mike's Chicken Monthly Medal Golf Challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club last Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Some 81 golfers competed in the Mike’s Chicken Monthly Medal Golf Challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club last Saturday.

Piet Bronkhorst was awarded for playing nearest to the pin at hole number four, while Phil Masekane was awarded for playing nearest to the pin at hole 11.

In the A-division, Morne Myburg was announced as the winner with 68 points. He was followed by Thabo Shingange with 71 points on a count-out.

Steve Rudd led the B-division with 70 points. He was followed by Jose Afonso with 72 points on a count-out.

Andre Roux won the C-division with 72 points, while Charles Mara was in second place with 74 points on a count-out.

In the women’s category, Desiree Earle claimed first place with 69 points, while Belinda Schutte was in second place with 79 points on a count-out.

Nola Peceur won first place in ladies bronze with 77 points. She was followed by Lynette Smith with 79 points on a count-out.

Charlie Smith made the draw for the jackpot at hole number two, eight, 10 and 13, but there was no winner. The jackpot now stands at R660 with only R528 that is payable.
