Karatekas awarded for outstanding performance

POLOKWANE -The Eksteen Bushido Freestyle Karate do Institute celebrated its 15th annual year-end prize-giving ceremony on Saturday when members were awarded for their outstanding performances throughout the year.

The following karatekas took home gold awards for their performances at karate camp:

Cade Brink, Lebogang Mathapo, Matome Rakgoale and Sampaul Chauke.

Other awards received:

According to martial arts instructor, grandmaster Henri Eksteen (9th Dan), Mphela Modiba and Mathew Eksteen received their black belts within the ranking status of the organisation and passed with excellent marks. “Mphele and Matthew had to undergo a most intense grading examination.

Sensei Annatjie de Jager received her 4th Dan Shodan after having been with the JKA Karate Club for about 25 years. She has been with Eksteen for over three years. According to Eksteen, De Jager’s 4th Dan was awarded to her for merit of excellence after being graded by Eksteen through intense training and teaching skills throughout the last two years. De Jager is Eksteen’s assistant dojo head.

Lebogang Mathapo – overall best karateka of the year.

Cade Brink- 100% gashuku attendance in 2015.

Lesego Rammutla – best pee wee of the year.

Abram Makobela- best senior of the year.

Edward Makobela –  best junior of the year.

(The students managed to successfully complete all the gashukus)

The following students received individual performance awards:

• Lesego Rammutla and Mischke Oosthuizen – 100% class attendance.

• Ayo Mokwena – Best Competitive Karateka in Kumite.

• Lehlogonolo Mashishi – Special performance in competitive Kumite.

• Edward Makobela and Abram Makobela – 100% class attendance and 100% Karate Gashuku attendance.

• Khensani Mashela -Best Competitive Karateka in Kata.

• Lebogang Mathapo -Special performance in competitive Kata.

• Fazlin Jardien -Best Karate Grading participant.
