Tzaneen dancers tap, hip, hop

The Dance Place from Tzaneen and Dance Creations took part in the Dance Fusion Limpopo Competition over the weekend.

LIMPOPO – The dancers competed in acrobatics, modern, open, hip hop and contemporary. All ages and levels competed against one another.

The following dancers were awarded first place in their category:

Solo dancers – Liam O’Brien in acrobatics (82%), Sanel Botha in modern (90%), Marthinus Grobler in hip hop (88%) and open (91%).

Group dancers – Suné Bezuidenhout, Ruchelle Jacobs, Juané Pretorius, Liam O’ Brien, Anneri Stassen, Tyra du Plessis, Sanel Botha, Eyré Koekemoer and Marlie le Roux in an open (80,5%) group as well as a contemporary group (91,5%), Liam O’Brien and Juané Pretorius for a contemporary duet (88%).

The following dancers were awarded second place in their category:

Solo dancers – Stefan Pretorius in acrobatics (81,5%), Leanne Liebenberg in modern (83%), Anneri Stassen in contemporary (83%), Eyré Koekemoer in an open category (87,5%).

Group dancers – Leanne Liebenberg, Suné Bezuidenhout, Ruchelle Jacobs, Juané Pretorius and Liam O’ Brien in modern (88,5%), Jani Minnaar and Tyra du Plessis in acrobatics (82,5%) and Leonard Mooi and Lexi Erasmus in acrobatics (82,5%).

The following dancers were awarded third place in their category:

Solo dancers – Ansuretha Perold in acrobatics (80%), Diné Booyse in modern (79%), Marthinus Grobler (85%) and Juané Pretorius (85%) in open dance style.

Group dancers – Danika Pieters, Emmalin Nel, Katryn Coetzee and Soria Meyer (age five the youngest dancers); Suné Bezuidenhout, Ruchelle Jacobs, Juané Pretorius and Liam O’ Brien in modern (80%) and Ruchelle Jacobs and Suné Bezuidenhout with an open duet (78,5%).

Tamar de Meyer was placed fourth in acrobatics with 77%; Eyré Koekemoer and Marthinus Grobler were placed fifth in the hip hop duet with 76%; Dian de Lange and Tyra du Plessis were placed fifth in open with 76,5%; Natasha Bloem was placed eighth in hip hop with 73,5%; Ruchelle Jacobs was placed fifth in open with 76,5%; Ansuretha Perold and Stefan Pretorius were placed fourth in acrobatics duet with 78%.

Special award certificates went to Ansuretha Perold for absolute control over her dance tricks and movement; Stefan Pretorius for being a rising star in his style; Leanne Liebenberg for being Miss Personality throughout the competition; Sanel Botha for being an absolutely captivating dancer; Tyra du Plessis for being a fun and entertaining dancer; Liam O’Brien and Juané Pretorius for great partnering and team work; Eyré Koekemoer for dancing with conviction; Marthinus Grobler for being a dynamic dancer.

Special award trophies went to Dian de Lange and Tyra du Plessis (best overall beginners), Liam O’Brien (best all-rounder), Marthinus Grobler (best solo performance) and the dance place contemporary group (best choreography, best overall performance and best overall group.
