Eager Aquatics’ swimmers make a splash
Eagar Aquatics held their annual Sprint Gala at the Polokwane city pool and more than 100 swimmers took to the water to not only beat their opponents but their own best times as well.
POLOKWANE – The gala was held on Saturday, 28 October and the swimming organiser, Rob Anderson, said these kinds of galas are ideal to give swimmers the opportunity to hone their skills.
He added swimmers from Limpopo have represented the province and South Africa at the Olympics as well as other national and international swimming events, bringing home several gold medals in the past.
“We had swimmers from as young as six years old taking part in the gala and it showed the talent we have in Limpopo can be pushed to unbelievable heights when they already start shining at such a young age,” he said.
Anderson added galas like these will help to expose swimmers to the competitive side of the sport which is why the public swimming pool is so important to the development of clubs and swimmers in the area.
“It will give us the gateway to potential stars and it is a pool that is easily accessible for people in and around Polokwane,” he explained.
