POLOKWANE – For all the golf lovers in the city, Review has something you might want to hear. The Review Longest Drive Challenge is set to take place at the Polokwane Golf Course on Saturday, 14 April.

The challenge is aimed at getting local business people and individuals on the course to further promote a lifestyle event, which is well known among the locals.

During the course of the challenge, the drives will be monitored by a flight scope which will closely observe the ball spin as well as the distance to determine who will walk away with the title.

The challenge will start at 10:00 and will carry on until late. Those looking to take part in the day’s activities will be able to do so from 10:00 until the drives cut off time at 15:00. The judges will point out the top 16 and these individuals will then give their all to make it into the top three.

Apart from the coveted best drive of the day title, there will also be a competition for the greatest chip. As an additional aspect of the challenge, putters can also look forward to the longest putt into the hole challenge which will test their speed and accuracy in not just reading the distance but also in the alignment of the ball, getting it into the hole.

Adding to the day’s fun, there will also be a marshmallow drive where contestants can use any of their golf clubs, putting with a marshmallow.

Entry on the day will be R200 which will include five balls for the longest drive, a goodie bag to the value of R400 and snacks during the prize-giving during which an auction is set to take place. There will be locally brewed beer and gin and a drink voucher for those who have given it their all on the course and are in dire need of a little release.
