Giyani boxer wins featherweight title

Giyani Boxing Club boxer, Saul Hlungwani, has won the junior featherweight four-round title, beating his opponent, Thendo Mulimi, in the tournament on 27 May at Ngoako Ramathlodi Sports Complex in Polokwane.

LIMPOPO – Hlungwani won the title by points and his trainer, Immanuel Muthavhatshindi, said the match was tight but they are elated to be victorious at the end of the day.

“As Giyani Boxing Club we are happy with the win and we hope to do even better next time. I am extremely satisfied with Thendo’s performance, he threw some great punches. This win will lead him to greener pastures,” he said.

“We encourage other youths to join our club to not only grow and promote the sport but so they can keep away from substance abuse and crime. Sports is good because you can make a successful career out of it, all while staying healthy.”
