Polokwane students invited to a day of sport and peace
In Celebration of the International Day of Peace, Bernard Sihlezi Foundation invites local college students to join in the fun filled sporting tournament to be hosted at the Westenburg Sports Ground on Friday, 21 September.
POLOKWANE -The sports tournament called Polokwane Inter-Colleges Sports Tournament is set to see more than 6 colleges (including Thekwini City College Polokwane Campus, Polokwane Technology institute, St Ignitions College and Best Performers College) participating.
The foundation, founded and run by Bernard Sihlezi and the Thekwini City College, main aim is to raise awareness among students and the community of Polokwane at large about the existence of international Day of Peace – A day commemorated worldwide by people of different culture, nationalities, sex, religions etc.
“The event is also an opportunity to introduce SDGs and SDG 16 in particular for young people and educate them on how they can take part in the attainment of these SDGs by 2030 (These are 17 Sustainable Development Goals) which were adopted by the UN and all its member States in 2015 and are to be achieved by 2030,” explained, Bernard Sihlezi, who is the Student Affairs Officer at Thekwini City College in Polokwane.
