Rugby festival to put touch rugby on the map in Limpopo
The festival is set to take place on 30 November at the Louis Trichardt rugby club in celebration of LTT Touch Rugby's first birthday.
LIMPOPO – Tony Marageni (26) says he been an avid rugby player, from playing in his primary years at Laerskool Louis Trichardt to making the first-team at Hoërskool Louis Trichardt in Gr 8.
Tony has since been involved in taking rugby to rural areas through the Madombidzha Rugby Club and he recently announced plans for the first annual Louis Trichardt rugby club festival.
The festival is set to take place on 30 November at the Louis Trichardt rugby club in celebration of LTT Touch Rugby’s first birthday. Tony says since the end of the rugby season, there has been no rugby around Limpopo. “I thought that it would be a great idea to have the first annual Touch Rugby Festival to give people competitive rugby action to watch and at the same time celebrate LTT Touch Rugby’s first birthday.”
Tony says the vision is to grow the touch rugby format in Louis Trichardt and throughout the province. “We are the first club of our kind in Limpopo.” He says the plan is to introduce rugby to everyone who wishes to learn and play, as well as give people and businesses a platform to socialise, network, sell and showcase their services and products. In line with our vision, to build a culture of people coming together through touch rugby, we will also introduce new initiatives that will not only help the club but put Louis Trichardt and Limpopo on the map,” he says.

Teams will pay an entrance fee of R400 to book their place and funds generated will be used to grow the LTT Touch Rugby brand and to host other rugby events of this kind. Tony says the prizes will be announced at a later stage.
