Girl power makes history at local soccer tournament

Mantshane Sports Development became the first female team to win the Boy Mamabolo Games after beating the Ladies School of Sport Excellence (LSSE), 3-0.

POLOKWANE – The final was hosted during an action-packed Easter weekend at the Sesehgo Stadium, where local teams battled it out for the title. Teams included SweetBoys, Sunny Blades, Lethuli United Brothers Development, Dinoko, Zone 6 Young Stars, as well as ladies soccer teams: Ladies School of Sport Excellence (LSSE), Matsenelele Black Tigers, Hungry Lions as well as Mantshane Sports Development Football Clubs.

Chairman of the local organising committee, Tumishang Meso, says the aim of the tournament was to revive soccer in Seshego and added that all semi-finalists were presented with new kits from the Boy Mamabolo Foundation. “We value and appreciate the outstanding role played by the foundation, in partnership with other stakeholders, who continue to contribute positively to local sport development. Sport has the power to unite people and ring forth peace in the community,” Meso said.
