Soccer lovers have something to cheer for

Thohoyandou soccer lovers will soon be able to watch more GladAfrica league matches on their doorstep.

LIMPOPO – Besides Black Leopards, who were relegated from the DStv Premiership last season, there will be another local team to ply their trade in the national first division.

A group of businesspeople around the Thohoyandou area bought Cape United’s league status. United has been based in the Cape since its inception in the league three years ago. According to the team’s spokesperson, Itani Munzhelele, the reason behind buying the team was to develop young players as they believe the Vhembe area has a lot of talent.

He stated that he had confidence in the people of Vhembe, that they would take his team to the highest level of football in the country within a reasonable period.

The team will play their home matches at the Thohoyandou Stadium, and will look to hire a new coach and many players from around the Vhembe district.

Munzhelele said his team would play several friendly matches before the league resumes next month.
