Local fencers up for battle
Limpopo Fencing Association fencers are ready to do battle as they return to competitions.
POLOKWANE – The fencers returned to training on August 11 in preparation for the KwaZulu-Natal Open Fencing Ranking Championships scheduled for September 25 and 26 in KwaZulu-Natal.
The championship is a national ranking event that is open to fencers from all provinces as well as fencers from abroad.
Sello Maduma Fencing Academy coach Sello Maduma said the province will be represented by fencers from Fire Birds Fencing Club as well as fencers from his academy.
“The competition is a good platform for fencers to improve and defend their rankings. The competition will provide good experience for the fencers who will make their debut at the event, and give them a taste of a national competition and how it is to compete against fencers from other provinces.”
Limpopo Fencing Association chairperson Renuka Ramroop said fencers are happy to return to training.
“We are happy that we can start training again and prepare for the competition. Fencing is a safe sport and we will adhere to all Covid-19 regulations.”
