Local netball players selected for national squad
A quartet of netball players from Rising Stars Netball Club in Polokwane have been selected to be part of the South African Netball men’s squad.
POLOKWANE – Netball players from Rising Stars Netball Club in Polokwane Eddie Manyathela, Noko Nailana, Nakedi Nkosi and Jackson Rakololo were selected to be part of the South African Netball men’s squad that will travel to Morocco for the International Males Netball Championship next month.
The quartet were selected at the South African male tournament held in the Northern Cape on February 19.
Manyathela who regularly umpires at local schools’ netball matches was named the best defender of the tournament.
Cecilia Molokwane, president of Netball South Africa and owner of Rising Stars Netball Club, said she is proud of the players. “We are happy that we can produce national team players at the club. They have done well for themselves and we wish them well in their national team assignment.”
Kamogelo Meso, team manager for Rising Stars Netball Club, said the players have been working hard throughout the season. “They have made my job easy as a team manager and I am proud to have them in my team.”
