“We want Seshego Marathon to be at the level of the Soweto Marathon. The shirts are a product for Limpopo and we want the entire province to own the brand and be proud of it,” he said.

He explained the T-shirt is something different and they took the colours of the Seshego Marathon’s logo into consideration in the design. “We wanted something that is stylish and sporty. It is comfortable to run in and can be worn with pride,” he said.

Kgomo explained the race is a result of a foundation called Sisonke, which assists learners with reading difficulties at school from underprivileged families to acquire reading glasses. “We needed funding, so we thought of the marathon as a charity event to raise the money to assist the learners.”

Appreciation was given to the sponsors of the event; MTN, Hollywoodbets, Talisman, as well as Energy FM and Polokwane Review for being the marathon’s media partners.
