LIMPOPO – Vhembe Mpheni Home Defenders will represent Limpopo at the ABC Motsepe national play-offs, to be played in North West in June.
The play-offs mark the end of the ABC Motsepe regular season and sees the nine champions (one in each province) compete for a spot in the national first division.

Limpopo Stream A champions Defenders and Stream B champions Magezi faced each other at the Giyani Stadium on Saturday to determine the champions of the province. The match was a balanced affair but Magezi created most of the scoring opportunities.
Defenders made some rough challenges from the onset and the referee reprimanded David Malesela with a yellow card following one of his tackles. Their keeper, Ludick Mkhatshwa, made his presence felt in the 34th minute after Magezi were awarded a free kick just outside the box.
Jerrey Tshabalala unleashed a shot from the set piece that tested Mkhatshwa, who had to execute a brilliant save. A defender of Magezi, John Mokone, was also booked by the referee as he was deemed to have intentionally handled the ball.

The match was all square at half time. Defenders started the second half on a good note as they had the majority of ball possession. They could, however, not get through the rock-solid defence of Magezi.
Magezi missed another scoring opportunity when Mpho Raseana dribbled past three defenders but shot wide.
Defenders made the most of their opportunity a few minutes later as Gift Nemutandani scored the only goal of the day. He received a neat pass from Lucky Buasi and unleashed a powerful shot that beat Magezi’s goalkeeper.
