Manyenywe say lack of preparation led them to bronze
The Limpopo Softball Team recently participated in the South African Softball Masters Tournament where they finished third.
POLOKWANE – The deputy chairperson of the Limpopo Softball Association, Benny Boshomane said their third place finish at the South African Softball Masters Tournament that took place in Polokwane on September 24 will prompt the team to do better in the tournament next year.
Manyenywe, as they are affectionately known in softball circles, has failed to make use of their home-ground advantage after suffering defeats from North West and Free State in the quarter and the semi-finals of the tournament.

Boshomane said a lack of proper preparation cost them the tournament.
“We came to the tournament as defending champions and that worked against us. Last year when we won most of the teams did not know anything about us. Ahead of this tournament, as the defending champions, everyone knew about us and they were able to prepare by analysing our matches. From the first day of the event, it was clear teams were aiming for our heads and their plan worked. However, we are proud of the team’s effort and I think next year we will do better. The tournament will be held in Free State and we want to reclaim the glory. “
The tournament was attended by former presidents of Limpopo Softball Association as well as players.
“The turnout was amazing and the presence of former leaders and the players added a specific flavour to the tournament. They rallied behind the team and their support is much appreciated.”
