Runners encouraged to enter Mall of the North marathon
The annual Mall of the North Marathon takes place on April 1 and promises to once again be an event to remember.
POLOKWANE – Chairperson of Polokwane Athletic Club (PAC) and organiser of the Mall the North Marathon, Corrie Calitz urges runners to register on time to avoid disappointment.
The annual Mall of the North Marathon takes place on April 1 and promises to once again be an event to remember.
This marathon is a Comrades Marathon qualifier race and is co-organised by the PAC.
Calitz said since opening for registrations in February they have managed to register 154 runners for the 10km race and 245 runners for 21km race.
“All is going well with the marathon. We want more numbers and encourage them to register online because it is easier to manage. We have 800 T-shirts which will be given to those who register on time. Thus far we have already given away 500 T-shirts to those that have already registered online.”
He said that online registrations can be made at www.peaktiming.co.za until March 26.
“Manual entries will be done from March 29-31 at the help desk at Mall of the North’s Game Court and number collection will be from March 31 to April 1 at the same venue from 4:30 to 5:30. No entries will be done on race day hence we urge runners to register on time. We expect more prominent runners from various running clubs in the country at the marathon. The track has been approved by the authorities and there will be law enforcement on the route to ensure runners’ safety.”
