Four Limpopo female softballers off to Spain

The four female provincial softball players have been in scintillating form since the beginning of the season, having won various individual awards during their matches.

POLOKWANE- Four players from the Limpopo Softball Association, Katlego Aphane, Pertunia Kgohloane, Rachel Matsiwe and Thandi Malebane have been included in the South African women’s softball team that will represent the country at the Pre-World Cup Championship to be held in Spain from July 18 to 22.

Aphane plays for Moletlane Texas, Kgohloane for Mabeans Softball Club while Matsiwe and Malebane are part of the Naledi Spiders Softball Club.

The quartet have been in scintillating form since the beginning of the season, having won various individual awards during their matches.

Benny Boshomane, executive member of the association said their latest feat will open doors for the players.

“We are hoping that they will catch the eye of international scouts while they are there. They have been working very hard, and are disciplined and dedicated. They are fit and well-conditioned, which shows their commitment to the game. Softball is their life and they are reaping the rewards of their hard work. We wish them well in the world softball spectacle.”

Aphane said she is relishing the opportunity to play in Spain and will make good use of it.

“I won the top pitcher award in the league, and am hoping to continue with the same form in Spain.”
