Bendor Padel serves up an epic Smashfest

The Smashfest Padel Tournament brought fierce competition and a thrilling final, making it an action-packed weekend in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – Bendor Padel played host to SRE Padel’s February Smashfest Padel Tournament this weekend, which delivered an action-packed two days of intense rallies, power smashes, and unforgettable moments.

With padel fever running high, players of all ages took to the courts, making this one of the most exciting tournaments yet.

The fun kicked off on Friday, where the u/13 players battled things out, displaying impressive talent beyond their years. Their enthusiasm set the stage for an electrifying weekend.

On Saturday, the competition intensified with three fiercely contested divisions, namely the ladies doubles, mixed doubles and men’s doubles.

The men’s doubles division was dramatically interrupted by rain, forcing a delay.

But padel players are nothing if not resilient!

The match resumed after 20:00, with competitors battling under the lights until well past midnight.

Reflecting on the event’s, Ernest Faver from SRE Padel shared the team’s excitement:

“The Smashfest was an unforgettable experience. From our talented u/13s to the epic late-night men’s doubles final, every match had its moments of brilliance. A huge congratulations to our champions and a heartfelt thank you to every player who participated. The passion and energy on the courts were inspiring!”

He also had a special word for the tournament’s sponsors.

“No tournament is complete without the incredible support of our sponsors, who made it all possible. Their generosity ensured amazing prizes for our winners and helped create an event that players and fans alike will remember. Winners:

Ladies: Kristy Ballantyne and Zeenat Tayob (Team Volley Vixens) who were up against Rock Solid’s Celeste and Marian Nel-Fouché.

Mixed: HP Luus and Kristy Ballantyne (Team Semi Soet) who defeated Team Bottelnek (Sarel and Annelise van Rooyen).

Men: HP Luus and Sarel van Rooyen (Team Fence, Baby) trumped Team Take Two, consisting of Omar Waseem and Fayaad Cassim.
