Venda FC unveils new coach, players and kit
Clinton Larsen takes charge as Venda FC coach with fresh signings and big plans for promotion to the Premiership Division.
LIMPOPO – Venda Football Club (VFC) introduced new head coach Clinton Larsen, 13 new players, technical staff, a new kit and a physical trainer during a media conference held at Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge outside Louis Trichardt on August 19.
The new signings are Malcolm Jacobs, Matome Makobela, Gregory Damons, Thato Ligwati, Sibongiseni Ngcobo, Chris Matombo, Deolin Mekoa, Anathi Gwadle, Sabulela Ntombela, Rendani Ramakgapola, Motebang Sera, Unarine Kudzingana and Cimiso Madzibuko.
Larsen, formerly with PSL side Magezi FC, will be assisted by Solly Luvhengo, a former Black Leopards coach.
He told the media he expected a solid working relationship with the technical staff.
“I know all the best teams in the league and I have also started to study the players, coaches and how they play.”
Larsen said his mandate was to ensure the team finished at the top of the log and secured promotion to the Premiership Division.
Selecting the final squad from the trials had been a challenge, he admitted, as many of the hopefuls were highly talented.
Asked about his goals, Larsen said every coach’s target was promotion.
He acknowledged that his performance would ultimately be measured by results. “I don’t want to see my team fighting for relegation like the previous season,” he said.
Introducing him, new club CEO Rendani Mulaudzi said Larsen’s appointment showed VFC’s intent.
“Larsen’s appointment is a clear indication that we are serious about promotion at the end of the 2025/26 season. We are ambitious, with a goal to achieve, and therefore we had to go for the best,” said Mulaudzi.
