Munaca FC’s ABC Motsepe journey ends with club sale

The sale of Munaca FC ends a promising run in the ABC Motsepe League, with details of the new Limpopo owners still under wraps.

LIMPOPO – Munaca FC, one of the home-based Limpopo ABC Motsepe Promotional League clubs, has been sold, leaving supporters and players disappointed. The club, based in Louis Trichardt and playing home matches at Makhado Show Ground, confirmed the sale earlier this week.

Manager Mike Muzila declined to reveal the identity of the new owners, saying the legal process is still being finalised.

“We agreed with the buyer not to disclose the details until the transaction is complete,” Muzila said, though he confirmed the new owners are based in Limpopo.

Munaca FC bought the franchise status three years ago and finished second in the previous season. The team had several experienced players, including Thenda Ndlovu, who previously played for Black Leopards, as well as Marumo Gallants and Tshakhumuna Tshamadzivhandila.

A player, who requested anonymity, expressed disappointment over the club’s fate. “It’s just sad that it ended this way. We had a strong team and a dedicated technical crew. Sello Chokoe and Ricardo Miriri did a great job assembling a squad that competed well in our first season after relocating,” he said.

He added that if South African football focused solely on performance rather than other challenges, Munaca could have finished at the top of the league. The sale marks the end of an era for the club, leaving fans and players reflecting on what could have been.
