Makhado learners took part in a one-day soccer tournament promoting education, sport, and a crime- and drug-free lifestyle.

LIMPOPO – Players from primary and secondary schools in the Bungeni area came together on Saturday for a one-day soccer tournament aimed at promoting a crime- and drug-free lifestyle among learners. The event was held at Njhakanjhaka grounds.

Four primary schools and three secondary schools took part, with each team receiving a soccer kit and two balls.

In the secondary school category, Hluvuka High emerged victorious, defeating Mahatlani High 5-3 to claim the trophy, gold medals and two soccer balls. In the primary category, Mahatlani Primary beat Njhakanjhaka Primary 3-2 to take home the championship along with a trophy, gold medals and two soccer balls.

The tournament was sponsored by Sydwell Mosungwa of Mosungwa Attorneys, who said the initiative reflects his commitment to supporting the local community.

“We are part of this community and want to contribute to its development. We will continue to sponsor this tournament,” he said.

Mosungwa encouraged young people to participate in sport and focus on education.

“Sport and education are the keys to a brighter future for our youth,” he said, urging learners to stay away from crime and drugs.

He also praised the team managers and players for their dedication and commitment throughout the day.
