Potties Athletic Club shines at Two Oceans Marathon

Potties Athletic Club athletes impress at Two Oceans Marathon with personal bests in the ultramarathon and half-marathon.

MOKOPANE – The Potties Athletic Club made a strong impression at the prestigious Tow Oceans Marathon ran in Cape Town last weekend, with dedicated athletes competing in both the 56km ultramarathon and the challenging 21km half-marathon.

Sarie Coetzee runs the ultramarathon and half-marathon in 06:10:20 and 02:24:50 respectively.

In the ultramarathon, the legendary Gerda Steyn again made her mark, winning the women’s division in a time of 03:27:43 – her seventh victory of the race – and Arthur Jantjies taking the men’s win in 03:09:25.

The four Potties team mates proudly brought home a host of personal bests and commendable finishes.

Christa Darvall runs the half marathon in a personal best time of 02:48:23.

A true standout was Sarie Coetzee and Annemarie Kruger, who both achieved the remarkable feat of completing the ultramarathon and the half-marathon. Sarie crossed the finish line of the 56km in 06:10:20 and completed the 21km in 02:24:50. Annemarie completed the 56km in 06:52:50 and the 21km in 03:03:29.

Christa Darvall achieved a personal best time of 02:48:23 in the 21km and Helyn Pope was brave to take on the 56km in a time of 05:41:35.
