DJ Darque to feature on TV

LOCAL DJ and producer, Molapo Malatjie (22) from Seshego, better known as DJ Darque, is a fast becoming a household name.

LOCAL DJ and producer, Molapo Malatjie (22) from Seshego, better known as DJ Darque, is a fast becoming a household name.

With a national diploma in marketing from Boston College, he is the owner of production company, MJML Projects.

“I started my journey in DJing and production at the age of 16. For five years I had my ear on the ground to find only the best music, ranging from jazz to international deep house music. I created my technical and audio proficiency the old fashioned way; by playing every weekend and producing music,” says Darque.

Darque has worked with famous local in international DJs like Deep Forest, Andy Compton, Kaylow, Kojo Akusa, Da Capo, Henning’s Project, Reelsoul, Black Coffee, Darryl D’Bonneau and Robert Owens.

He produced and compiled a number of albums, including Deep Forest Session 1 and 2, mixed by Jaguar Paw, and Jungle Fever Volume 1 and 2, mixed by Wishingsoul, as well as Kaleido and Rare Earth Elements.

“Polokwane brewed with talent for decades.

“Many talented musicians, DJs and producers are willing to spread their wings across the southern hemisphere.

“My work made major compilations such as Music Box 6 by DJ Terrence and House Blendz by DJ Malankane possible and I have produced music for artists like Bucie and Londiwe,” he says.

“My debut album, Rare Earth Elements, features artists like Kaylow, Robert Owens, Sun Singleton, Black Coffee, Darryl D’Bonneau and Paul Randolph.”

Darque recently appeared as a guest DJ on the Vuzu channel TV show, Hit Refresh.

He told Express he would host the Darque Experience at Kalawa Chisa Nyama in Seshego zone 3 on December 21.

“My goal is to be one of the most successful DJs and producers in South Africa. I want to be able to help young DJs too.”

He advised those who wanted to follow in his footsteps to connect, communicate and socialise with their fans and to love and respect people.
