Top artists and DJ’s rock Thohoyandou festival

THOHOYANDOU – THOUSANDS of people flocked to the Thohoyandou 2010 Centre to enjoy the music at the second annual Spar Music Festival on December 26 last year.

With award winning artists like Vetkuk vs Mahoota, Black Motion, Colbert Mukwevho, Khakhathi and Friend, Tshepo Manyisa and Bhamba on the playbill, festivalgoers enjoyed a day of excellent entertainment.

Top South African DJ’s like DJ Tira and DJ Nipro also made sure that the dance beats continued throughout the day.

Organiser Rudzani Matshe-ketsheke, marketing director of LIGSAK Events and Consultants, said festivalgoers were not disappointed thanks to the high quality of entertainment at the festival.

“We wanted to bring some fun to Thohoyandou. We also used the services of local suppliers to ensure that the local economy received a welcome boost,” he said.

Matsheketsheke explained that LIGSAK wanted to remind people that they should never forget their roots.

“People are born, educated and socialised in these local communities. Then, when they grow up, they sometimes deny their heritage when they move to the cities. With this festival we want to remind people that home is still where the heart is.”

He explained that the festival offered local DJ’s the opportunity to show off their talent when they shared the stage with well-known DJ’s. He said this was also an opportunity for the local DJ’s to learn from the professionals.

Cornel Zaayman, executive director of Spar Thohoyandou, said the festival was a major success for the second consecutive year.

“We want to create events where music lovers can enjoy unforgettable live performances by their favourite artists. Our festival brings together people from all walks of life to enjoy the music together.”
