Louis Trichardt toy ride an enormous success

LOUIS TRICHARDT – The P&L Cycling Club spread some Christmas cheer on December 19 last year when they hosted the Jingle Bell Toy Ride.

Cyclists had to bring any toys as an entry fee to join the 18km long ride on a route that winded through the town. All the bicycles were festively decorated with Christmas lights and made for a spectacular sight. The toy ride started and ended at Mike’s Kitchen and participants enjoyed a meal together afterwards.

Renda Alexander, organiser of the event, said she received some very positive feedback from the participants and the P&L Cycling Club planned to host the event again this year. “The Jingle Bells Toy Ride was a community project. We wanted to collect toys to give to less privileged children,” she said.

Alexander explained that the toys were handed over to Rev Corné Randall of Bergcare. She said Randall would distribute the toys as needed.

Bergcare is a non-profit organisation that aims to coordinate charitable services in Louis Trichardt to avoid duplication and to ensure effective donations.

Alexander thanked all the sponsors of the toy ride for their contributions.
