LOUIS TRICHARDT – Residents should not miss out on this year’s Cansa Relay For Life, which will take place at Louis Trichardt High School on March 13.
Residents can enter teams of 10 to 15 people and the entry costs R500 per team, with additional members paying R50 per person.
“This is a fun event and it is for a good cause,” says Dirk Meissenheimer, the chairperson of the Louis Trichardt Cansa Relay For Life.
There are some do’s and don’ts for the Relay to ensure a fun evening for all.
• Do: bring a positive attitude, lots of energy, your family and friends, gazebo or tent, table, chair, warm clothes, decoration for camp site, umbrellas, supplies for on-site fundraising, lots of cash for stalls and a camera.
• Don’t: bring alcohol, tobacco products (bring lots of R2 coins for “sin-tax” if you insist on smoking), pets, weapons and no fire or gas on the fields.
Nicky Olwage from the Relay For Life team invites residents to make this year the biggest Relay For Life ever.
“Come join us for the Relay. There will be a lot of food stalls selling pancakes, stokworsies, Indian food, chips, chip sticks, cold drinks and biltong. There will also be entertainment by DJ Jonty and other local artists throughout the evening,” says Olwage.
There will be a meeting for the team captains on March 9 at the Baptist Church in Ruh Street. All captains need to attend the meeting to receive the final programme, to book the stands and to receive the Luminaria bags.
