LIMPOPO – HOUSE music producer and club deejay, DJ Da Capo Mogashoa has expressed his happiness at being nominated for his self-titled album, Da Capo, at the South African Music Awards (Sama) in the Best Dance Album category.
DJ Da Capo is nominated amongst the country’s heavyweights in the category and says winning a Sama award will open serious national and international doors for him.
The best dance album will be voted for by the Sama panel, which means his fans will not have an opportunity to vote for him through the usual SMS line.
However, he says this doesn’t put him off because he believes in his craft. “This nomination means that finally people all over will get to know about me, and it’s an opportunity to gain new fans. It’s a huge achievement in my career and a sign that I have achieved something in this industry; it’s something I have always dreamt of. If there were voting lines in the Best Dance Album Category, I would have asked for votes, but since it’s a different system, I ask for prayers.”
The Sama nominees were announced this month and will take place at the Sun City Superbowl on April 19.
DJ Da Capo is signed to Soul Candy and released his first solo album, Da Capo, five months ago and worked with vocalists both locally and internationally including Soulsta, Clara Hill, Ron Ray, Lyrik Shoxen, and Apple Gule and Pianist Clement.
He also has his own record label, Surreal Sounds, and says he prides himself on being in touch with his fans and encourages fellow musicians to follow their dreams even when days are dark.
“I do get inspiration from the music I listen to, but I mostly get it from positive people who always give me the courage to keep producing good music. Right now I am working on tons of remixes which are going to be released during the course of the year. We are also working hard, promoting the album and we will have a chance to know how the album is doing in April.”
DJ Da Capo’s album is available in major music retail stores countrywide.
