VICKY Maboya (35), better known as Vic Mash, is a hip hop artist who was born and raised in Seshego.

SESHEGO – VICKY Maboya (35), better known as Vic Mash, is a hip hop artist who was born and raised in Seshego.

He started rapping 1996 with a group known as UGK, which stands for Underground Kings. The group consisted of three members, the other two being C-slow and Doc Pell.

However, when the group disbanded, Maboya moved to Pretoria.

In 2001 he dropped a single, I Will go Ahead, and the track made waves on the streets of Seshego.

Later he realised that he needed to change from rapping in English to vernacular, and he switched to Sepedi rap in 2004.

He then formed a group with Sunny and Skwati called Mphato.

Maboya has worked with DJ Nate from Drag Records and produced an album for Mphato called Kasi Flava. Some of the tracks on the album made waves on Thobela FM as well as in Seshego.

In 2011, Maboya entered I Can Sing Limpopo District competition, and he won this part of the competition, and went on to the next stage but unfortunately dropped out.

He later become involved with beach party festivals and appeared four times at such event, sharing the stage with the likes of Teargas, Khuli Chana, PRO Kid, Red Button, Bricks, Metro FM DJ’s and many more.

He then did a collaboration with SpaceMunna and produced a track called Ayeye.

A video was also shot for this track, and the song later went on to win an award at the King of Limpopo Hip Hop Awards. The video is currently loaded on YouTube and has had 1 739 views.

The track is a sensation on Thobela FM, Turf FM, Mokopane FM, Lebowakgomo FM and Sekhukhune FM.

Maboya went on to do another collaboration, this time with Brian Majola from Gumshev and Rhythm City, called Hold On.

Again, the track was a sensation and a video was also shot.

At the moment, Maboya is working on merchandising his brand, and he is still busy with his new album, which is being produced by international producer, Anthony Buoro Omoh, als known as Ty.

Maboya also just released a track from the album called Dreams. This song features SpaceMunna, C-slow and Big Ben.
