Little Anastasia is the apple of her father’s eye
Not only was her father really enthusiastic to have her, but Anastasia Rodakis also got his name
POLOKWANE – Not only was her father really enthusiastic to have her, but Anastasia Rodakis also got his name.
“His name is Eleftherios and her second name is Eleftheria,” explains her mother, Lucy.
“She was planned. Lefty, my husband, really wanted her and I was not sure if I was ready. Luckily it was an easy pregnancy as I was not really sick. I only had heartburn.”
Anastasia, now 20 weeks old, weighed 2,76 kg and was 50cm in length at birth. Lucy says the only things she craved during her pregnancy were avocados, pears, and spinach.
“I had two stork parties and they were really fun. I had one in Pretoria as all my family is there and one here with my colleagues, which took the form of a spa day where we were pampered.”
Lefty was the first to know about my pregnancy. I did the test just before I had to drive to work. I was so excited, that I bumped my car. I bought a little white Babygro and showed it to Lefty. He was ecstatic.
“During my pregnancy I did not do any exercises, but I did attend pre-natal classes. Sometimes I was scared that I would not be able to handle being a new mom and I was scared about what to expect.”
Lucy says she planned to have a caesarean section in Pretoria and they left about a week before the planned date to go there. But she went into labour and ended up giving birth naturally.
“I was never scared. The nurses were amazing and Lefty was so relaxed.”
With the nurses’ help, she started breastfeeding and says she still breastfeeds. Their biggest challenge is getting enough sleep.
“I miss being pregnant. It was really special. My first thought when I saw Anastasia was that I couldn’t believe how quick and easy it was and that she was so unreal.
“Our biggest fear is losing her or that something bad might happen to her.”
