All about sushi at Nguni Grill

Sushi is a delectable selection of dishes which originated from Japan

POLOKWANE – The original type of sushi was first developed in Southeast Asia as a means of preserving fish in fermented rice. In the Muromachi period, people began to eat the rice as well as the fish. Today it is a delicacy enjoyed all around the word.

Nguni Grill’s sushi chef, Dereck Chauke, discovered his passion when he learned how to prepare sushi from his brother. He later received training in Cape Town at the Cape Town Fish Market, now he can be found in Nguni’s kitchen and can claim credit for most of the delicious sushi dishes served on Nguni Grill’s menu.

“We only use the best ingredients to prepare our top of the range sushi dishes our customers love. The rice we use is special sushi rice and other ingredients include salmon, crab sticks, avocado and caviar,” Chauke explained.

Nguni Grill has a sushi carvery every Sunday where you can dig into a 46-piece sushi platter at an affordable R450.
