Best sphahlo in town can be found here

When you look at the menu and see car names, it’s likely that you would be puzzled and not sure of what to expect

POLOKWANE – Well, Moketla Tshepo Mamabolo’s sphahlo menu is inspired by car names such as BMW 325, BMW X5, Audi A3 Sport pack, Range Rover Evoque, VW Golf 7, and C 63 AMG.

He says he makes the best sphahlo, which has made him a favourite and a household name in the community. Mamabolo is the owner and head chef of Moketla’s Sphahlo which is situated on the corner of  Ngoaku and Mareka at Legaye La Batho.

He says his sphahlos are made with high grade quality products and that is why he has managed to win the support of his customer base.

“I use the best quality ingredients for my sphahlo as I believe this makes it tastier and keeps my customers coming back for more,” Mamabolo explains.

The cheerful Mamabolo says he has always loved cooking and has worked in several restaurants before he decided to open his own. He chose to specialise in serving sphahlo as it has always been one of his favourites.

Mamabolo owned a restaurant which sold African meals, but it was not very popular and he decided to open a sphahlo restaurant in 2014.

“I saw an opportunity because sphahlo is a popular meal and it is quick and easy to make, so I decided to venture in a new direction with my restaurant.”

Mamabolo, who lives in Seshego Zone 4, says his business is doing well and he has managed to employ three people at his shop.

He says one of his dreams is to branch out to the whole of Seshego and own a proper restaurant with a seating area where his customers can unwind while they enjoy their sphahlo.

He serves more than 100 customers daily. The prices of the sphahlo differ depending on the ingredients and he says the most popular one is the BMW 325.

Like any other business, he says he faces his fair amount of challenges, like the increase in the price of ingredients which takes a chunk out of his profit and whenever the power is out, he cannot serve his customers as he does not have a generator.
