Carol’s designs to rock Limpopo
Artistic designer, Carol Komape’s dream of collaborating with other designers to showcase her creations is soon to become a reality

POLOKWANE – The 22-year-old from Polokwane Extension 73 says she will be working with one of the popular designers in Polokwane, Quinton Masoga.
“I will be collaborating with Masoga for the Polokwane and Limpopo fashion shows which will be held in April,” says an excited Komape.
This came after she saw the article about Masoga in the Review Bonus, where he asked designers to assist him with preparations for his big show.
Komape says now her creations are finally going to come alive and she is excited to be part of this initiation.
She says she has been sketching designs since she was about 11 years old, and found inspiration from cartoons and started out by recreating their costumes in her sketches.
“When I was in high school, my teachers noticed my drawing skills and encouraged me to develop it further. My dream was to study fashion designing, but that was not possible due to my financial constraints.
Komape, who was raised by her grandmother along with her siblings, says when she has made enough money, she would like to fulfill her dream of studying fashion design.
Komape, who only sketches designs, but can’t tailor clothes herself, says she has been looking for someone to help bring her designs to life and she is happy to finally get the chance from Masoga to collaborate with him on his work.
“I have knocked at several doors in search of someone who can help me, with some I had no luck and others just made empty promises. It has not been an easy journey,” she says.
Komape says her favourite designer is Deneo Ranaka of LuvDR designs and she would like to design for retail stores in the future.
She hopes the showcase and collaboration with Masoga will give her a larger platform to showcase her designs and in turn reach more designers and customers.
Komape is currently studying transport and logistics at Capricorn FET College in Seshego. Apart from her designs, she says she is an aspiring business woman.
Masoga confirmed that he will be working with Komape and he was highly impressed when her saw her designs. “She is very talent and passionate, I know we are going to produce something breathtaking and never been seen before,” Masoga says.
