It’s all in the name at this kasi restaurant

Kasi Food Zone in Seshego zone 4, New Era Street makes the best kotas you have ever tasted

POLOKWANE – Their food is a definite must try with the menu named after night clubs around Seshego, ranging from Venda Sun, Kalawa, Mofolo, Short left and Catch up Zone.

Owner, Madimetja Sephuma says he wanted catchy names to attract customers and decided to name the menu after popular clubs in kasi.

He says the shop only started operating last year, and has been doing well. He has employed one person on a full-time basis.

“I have always loved cooking and eating. I love trying out new recipes and to enhance my cooking skills,” says Sephuma.

This self proclaimed foodie says the restaurant aims to give people something new and different.

“Everything here is unique, from the way the kota is prepared to the way it is packaged.”

Head chef, Elleson Ramphela shares tips with Review Bonus on how we can make the tastiest kota ever.

How to make the Kalawa kota

• Cut a loaf of bread into a quarter

• Remove the top of the quarter bread and toast it

• Fry vienna, polony, russian and burger ( 2 to 3 minutes)

• Layer the fried ingredients inside the bread

• Add chips, lettuce and cheese

Close with the toasted top and enjoy

Ramphele says sauce is a good addition as it will always enhance the taste, “but the most important ingredient is to make the food love”.
