Spice up your winter look with these tips
Men don't need to be afraid or feel intimidated to dress fashionably or choose an outfit that helps them stand out in a crowd
POLOKWANE – This is the sage fashion advice for the modern man by designer and stylist, Jeremiah Pitja, owner of Da-Elegance Men’s Boutique in Seshego.
He says as the chilly season is on our doorstep, there are certain essentials which every man should have in his closet to turn heads and be noticed.
“Torn jeans, blazer or coat and an attention grabbing pair of formal shoes, these are the three essentials of any outfit for this year’s winter season. They are timeless designs and you are sure to use them time and time again to round off any outfit.”
He says winter also gives us the opportunity to play around with colour and that men should not be afraid to wear bold and bright colours like red or yellow.
“You can liven up and change the entire feel of an outfit by adding a few accessories, like a playful twist with a lapel flower or a more rounded off look with a pocket square to match your tie. Shake things up with a bit of polka dots, a slim tie, a scarf, a brooch or even a pair of ‘happy’ socks with a fun print on them. Make your outfit stand out by adding something unique to it, make your own signature style,” he advises.
Yet another essential, he says every man should own, is a well-tailored suit and a stylish blazer as a tailored suit does wonders for your self esteem and presence, while a blazer can be dressed up or down with a variety of pants and shoes, like jeans and sneakers, for example.
Pitja is the personal stylist of Seshego rapper, Mohlagase, and says he only started designing in 2013 after working in retail for several years. “I worked for a menswear store and learned a lot about fashion and putting together matching items. I eventually learned to sew clothes and open my own boutique,” he says.
He says he saw a gap in the men’s clothing market and decided to become a designer to fully capitalise on his skill and talent. Although he prefers to design formal wear, he is always happy to make anything on a customer’s request. His dream is to open more stores around the province and grow his brand.
