Talking cars: Lee chats about his unique ride ‘Misty’

Lee Murison’s love for cars began when he was still a young boy and these days his love has grown to encompass fast and pimped up rides.

POLOKWANE – He is someone who is no stranger to working with his hands and is a finger-joint-plant boilermaker and maintenance manager. BONUS had the opportunity to talk with him about one of his biggest loves, his pimped out Honda Civic V-tec.
Q. Growing up, what was your dream car?
A. Ford Mustang GT 500 1967 model.
Q. Did you have a lot of toy cars when you were a child?
A. Yes, that might in part be why I still love cars today.
Q. What was the first car you drove?
A. A Nissan Langley EXA Turbo.
Q. When did you buy your latest toy?
A. Almost two years ago.
Q. What was the price tag?
A. I bought it for R50 000.
Q. What are some of the features that stand out that you appreciate most in the car?
A. The motor, wheels and the whole concept of the Honda Civic.
Q. What’s the highest speed you ever did with this car?
A. It’s difficult to say but I once clocked it at 230 km/h.
Q. Do you have a nickname for your car?
A. Yes I do, I call her Misty.
Q. How much does it cost to fill up the tank?
A. It costs about R600 to fill up the tank.
Q. How far have you driven this car?
A. So far only to Pretoria.
Q. How much does it cost for a major service?
A. A major service will cost around R2 000.
Q. When did you decide to pimp your ride and why?
A. About seven months ago. It’s a hobby for me and I love pimping my car and making it unique.
Q. Where did you pimp it?
A. I did it myself in my garage.
Q. What did you change on the car and why?
A. I fitted 17 inch mags and an induction kit, along with a Sticker bomb, a chip, a free flow and branches.
Q. How long did it take you to complete your car?
A. It took me about seven months to complete everything.
Q. How much did you spend on pimping your ride and do you think it was worth it?
A. I spent about R8 000 more or less and I think it was totally worth it because it makes the car unique and suits my personality.
Q. What advice do you have for motorists who also want to pimp their rides?
A. It is totally worth it. I love to see my passion grow and motivating others who have the same passion as I do. It doesn’t matter what you ride as long as it makes you happy. Keep doing what you love the most.
Q. How often do you drive your vehicle?
A. Mostly over weekends.
Q. Do you have any other cars that you plan on pimping?
A. Maybe a Volkswagen Golf but we will see.
