Rural DJ sets his sights on the big leagues

DJ Rabs Vhafuwi rises from rural living to producing hit albums and releasing hot albums

POLOKWANE – Rabelani Madula, better known as Rabs Vhafuwi, started his music career in 2008 and has since produced hit after hit. He recently released his latest album Hear Me Now and has set his sights on making it big in the industry.
The hot new 15-track album was released under his own label, FreezeTheMoment Productions, and published by Gallo Music. It includes features from the UK’s Jonny Miller and MrMo, D-Malice and Alie Keyz, Cjay as well as Gami Swaga.
After mastering his craft for four years, Rabs began producing his own music and his first single, Fundunzi, was released online and featured his mother, Vho-Sarah, on vocals. He released his first album consisting of 14-tracks in December 2014.
Hear Me Now serves as a stamp to my fans that I am here to stay. The album took me about a year to complete as I didn’t want to rush it. Last year I produced MrMo’s album and I have worked with artists such as Busiswa, Kora, MrMo, Makhadzi, D-Malice and Claudine Marshall. This is one of those albums you just play and let it take you on a journey. It starts softly with some deep soulful house tracks and takes off to my comfort zone of Afro Tribal house with instrumentals,” he said.
His goal is to motivate youths from villages to never give up on their dreams and work hard to make these dreams a reality. “People who do not come from a rural village will never understand what it means or takes to grow up there. I want to serve as an inspiration for these kids. I want to show them I was able to make it big as someone from their hood,” he concluded.
