A Police sergeant and three petrol attendants were due to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court earlier today after their arrest by members of the Limpopo Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Unit yesterday (Wednesday).
Hawks Limpopo Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke said that the sergeant is attached to the Thohoyandou Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) and faces a charge of fraud together with the three petrol attendants.
The sergeant allegedly booked back his state vehicle without a petrol card during April this year and has since used the card for refuelling his personal vehicle as well as other vehicles through the alleged assistance from the attendants, Maluleke said. He added that the value of the fuel is estimated at R38 000.
Investigations continue.
